Fig trees have the following characteristics:

  • Deciduous.
  • Trees are 12 ft. to 15 ft. high & 12 ft. to 15 ft. wide.
  • Hardy to temperature.
  • Drought resistant.
  • Note that a fig tree with open branches and large leaves is very beautiful when a gentle light source is placed under it.

Brown Fig of Kan (Persian)
• Large, bell-shaped, purplish-brown skin, light strawberry flesh
which is sweet and best when eaten fresh.

Filbert (Hazelnut)
  • Deciduous, nut tree.
  • 12 ft. to 15 ft. high & 8 ft. to 12 ft. wide.
  • Very handsome and wellstructured tree.
  • Nuts are in a green husk which becomes a brown shell.
  • For pollination, two trees are required.
  • Hardy to 10°F.
  • Regular watering.
  • Summer heat is needed. Plenty of sunlight is essential.
